Alpha Wing was founded in the early 2000s, shortly after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The team was initially formed as a government-funded response to potential superpowered threats. The founding members of the team were Oracle, a former intelligence analyst and psychic who had uncovered a conspiracy involving a rogue group of mutants, and Vanguard, a powerful telekinetic who had served in the military.
As the team grew, they began to take on a more proactive role in protecting the world from threats. They worked closely with the government, often operating in secret and carrying out missions that were too dangerous for traditional law enforcement agencies.
Over the years, Alpha Wing has faced a wide range of threats, from rogue superpowered individuals to alien invasions. They have also had a number of high-profile successes, including the capture of the villainous supergroup known as the Syndicate.
In recent years, however, there has been some tension between Alpha Wing and the government. Some members of the team have expressed concerns about the government's motives and have questioned whether they are truly acting in the best interests of the public.
It was during this time that Oracle first became aware of the possibility of the Vanishing. When he became convinced he could not prevent it, he became lured by the Void Emperor's offer of power and began to secretly work to make it happen.
